Hi,
It’s Monday again: the last week of the year begins! My talk today is about blockchain, a technology on the move.
I take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year!
For once, instead of practical applications of the Blockchain, it is important to make a summary of the regulatory framework.
It is a continually evolving situation at Italian and European level. The public consultation launched on the Blockchain by the Italian Ministry for Economic Development and completed last 20th July 2020, aims at fostering European and international cooperation through the adoption of a common infrastructure.
The document also talked about a possible European crypto-currency based on the Blockchain.
Then the BCE last October launched a consultation on the introduction of a digital Euro. Cash would not disappear, at least not for the moment, but the use of the main payment method for businesses and citizens would change.
Meanwhile, after the legislative initiative of the Principality of Monaco, the European Union approved the Digital Finance Package. It is an important regulatory project, which sees the Blockchain in first place for digital innovation in the interest of consumers and market efficiency.
In particular, soon we will have an european regulation of the cryptoasset market and an european regulation introducing a pilot scheme for cryptoasset and DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) solutions for the capital market.
The world is changing around us. The important thing is to stay up to seize the opportunities that will arise, also and above all for companies and business.
